Groupage freight - import and export between the UK and Europe
Some of your questions answered:
- What is groupage ?
Groupage is the grouping together of several compatible consignments into a full trailer load. Also referred to as consolidation,
this is more often than not the cheapest and most efficient way to transport goods.
- Does that mean my consignment will take much longer to arrive ?
No, not necessarily. We have regular trailers going out to our partner depots in every major city in Europe, which
means fast transit times and more efficient flow of goods through the depots.
- I don't have a forklift or access for a trailer - can you accomodate my needs ?
Whatever your requirements, we can handle them for you - we can offer tail lift vehicles all over the UK and Europe
in case you or your customer don't have the facility to lift the goods yourself.
As long as you make us aware of any access restrictions, we can usually collect on a smaller vehicle if needs be.
- Are my goods in danger of being damaged if they're going with lots of other freight ?
Each and every consignment is handled with extreme care, as if the cargo was our own, so your goods will be safe with
us - we will never load goods on top of yours if you've asked us not to and we never take unnecessary risks or cut corners.
- Do you lose control of the freight with a groupage service ?
No, we have just as much control over the whereabouts of a groupage shipment as we do over a full trailer load. Each consignment
is manifested on to the international trailer and most of the vehicles are fitted with GPS satnav so that they can be tracked
at any time. Ordinarily, the goods will arrive and be offloaded at the international depot during the early hours of the morning
and any discrepancies will be established at that point, meaning that you will have all the information at the start of the working day.
